Alerts can be an important tool for monitoring securities and making sure you stay on top of changes in the technical picture of a security without being in front of your computer all day.
System Alerts
System-generated alerts appear in the top right corner of the chart header. If next to a system alert it shows "(X more)", click on the bell icon to reveal the additional alerts, as shown below.
Custom Alerts
On the chart, there are two places where you can click to set alerts on a security. One is at the top of the chart header, just above the technical attribute section. The number that appears next to this icon indicates the number of active alerts you have set for this security. The other is directly above the chart itself. Both icons will take you to the same page.
Coming from a chart will bring you to the alerts page specific to the chart you came from. From here you can view your existing alerts related to this security and create additional alerts. For example, the below image shows all active alerts related to AAPL.
Price Alerts
Price alerts allow you to have the system notify you when a security crosses a certain price or reverses columns on its chart. Price alerts are set to expire after one year by default, but the expiration date can be adjusted as well. You can also change the default expiration date for alerts under the Alerts tab within Site Preferences.
If you turn on the "Ignore Alert Trigger" toggle, your alert will stay active once the security passes the target price you have set. Otherwise, once the alert it triggered it will no longer be active.
As shown above, the price alert window will provide you with information on the security's current price and the intraday high and low to help you determine where to set your alert. Alternately, you can use the chart to help identify levels of support or resistance at which you can set your price alert. For example, on the chart below, the next sell signal would occur at the $176 level. Therefore, you might choose to set an alert for the system to notify you when the price of AAPL falls below $176 so you can take action if the chart were to move to a sell signal.
Activity Alerts
Activity alerts allow you to receive a notification when a security experiences a significant technical change on its chart, such as a trend reversal or a change in its Market Relative Strength Signal, or if it is added to one of our Database Reports.
Make sure to pay attention to the scale dropdown to make sure you are setting your alert for the correct scale.
Data Point Alerts
Data point alerts allow you to receive notifications for changes in certain important technical measures related to a security like a stock's technical attribute rating or or a fund's fund score.
For example, you might choose to set an alert to know when a stock falls below a 3 technical attribute rating, which we consider to be our sell territory. If you turn on the "ignore alert trigger" toggle, this alert will stay active and notify you if the stock rises back above 3 and into our buy territory.
Custom Relative Strength Alerts
Custom Relative Strength alerts allow you to monitor the Relative Strength relationship between any two securities. To create Custom Relative Strength alerts you need to first define the two securities and the scale used for the chart. The scale represents the percentage value of each box on the y-axis.
Once you have defined the securities and scale, you can select whether you want to receive alerts for signal changes, column reversals, or both.
Deleting Existing Alerts
To delete multiple alerts at once, you can select an alert by clicking within its row in your list of alerts. Once you have selected the alerts you want to delete, hit the ellipsis icon in the top right corner just above the alerts list and click "delete selected."
Alert Notifications
Your alerts will be sent via email and can also be accessed via the bell icon in the top right corner of the platform.
To set up text alerts, add additional email addresses for your alerts, and manage additional alert preferences go to the Alerts tab within Site Preferences.
To delete multiple notifications at once, you can select an alert by clicking within its row in the alerts list.
