Once your model is saved, it becomes a Live Model on your Custom Model homepage.
View Model
Clicking 'View' next to one of your live models takes you to the Models page. This is where your model lives once it is saved. It will look and function just like any of the existing NDW models.
You can also view Custom Models by going directly to the Models page and using the filters on the left side of the page to show only your Custom Models.
Evaluate/Rebalance
The Evaluate/Rebalance options allow you to run the model rules and generate trades outside of the model's normal evaluation schedule.
The 'Rebalance' option will show for Static Allocation models and will allow you to restore the model to its target weights before a schedule rebalance date.
The 'Evaluate' option allows you to run your FSM, Matrix, or DALI model rules as of the previous trading day. This will cause the model to generate trades if dictated by your model rules.
If your model is a model-of-models, the 'Rebalance' and 'Evaluate' functions will only apply to the top level model. It will not cause any of the underlying models to rebalance or evaluate based on their own rules. You will have to choose to rebalance or evaluate each underlying custom model separately.
Be careful using the 'Evaluate' option too freely as this will undermine the backtest by deviating from the specific strategy used to generate the backtest.
Clone Model
Cloning a model allows you replicate your model in order to alter the model rules to test different versions of the model.
If you have made changes to your model rules, the cloned model rules will only capture the most recent version of the original model. It will not contain all of iterations of rules from the original model.
Overlay rules do not carry over from the original model to a model clone. If you want to include the same overlays, you will have to add them again to the model clone.
Model Settings
Clicking the gear icon next to a model takes you into the model's settings, where you can edit your model, share the model with another user, view the "Model Summary" page (which matches the Model Preview page shown in the model creation process), and add tags to your model so it can be properly categorized using the Models page filters.
Editing a model in model settings will not change the model back test. It will only update the model rules going forward. If you want to test the effect of a change on the model back test, you need to clone the model.
The model ticker cannot be changed in model settings. In order to change a custom model ticker, you need to clone the model.
Model Sharing
Models created by another user and shared with you will be highlighted in blue on your Custom Model Control Panel. Models you have created and shared with others will appear with a icon next to the model symbol indicating the model is shared with another user.
To share a model with another user, go to the 'Share Model' tab in the model's settings, enter the other users username, and click share model. You can rescind the shared model from that user by clicking the red X next to their username.
Edit my Premades
The 'Edit my Premades' option allows you to create custom model templates to easily apply the same rule sets or overlays to multiple models.
On this page you can create templates for the following:
- Matrix Model Rule Sets
- FSM Model Rule Sets
- Matrix Model Overlays
- FSM Model Overlays
- DALI Model asset class minimum and maximum allocations
Created Date
A custom model's created date is the date the model was initially saved. This will be the date the model is considered to have become a "live model" and is no longer based on back tested results.
Start Date
A custom model's start date is the date the model back test began. This date is selected in the final step of the model creation process.
Model Symbol
A Custom Model's symbol can be used throughout the platform just like any other security in the NDW database. Clicking the symbol link on this page takes you to the Point & Figure chart for your model.

Next Evaluation Date
A Custom Model's next evaluation date is the date a model is next scheduled to check for trades based on the model's rules. For example, a model set to evaluate on the last day of each month will show a next evaluation date of the last trading day of the current month.
Static Allocation models will not show a next evaluation date because there are no trading rules set within the model, only rebalance rules.
If you have a model-of-models, the next evaluation date will not capture when your underlying models will evaluate. It will only show the date for the top level model.
